Let’s start by diving into my definition of veganism, and how my own diet is. The following is my personal definition, from the Huffington Post:
“What is veganism? Veganism is the practice of abstaining from all forms of animal-based foods and animal products. You can do this by eating no animal products, and/or by avoiding animal products (such as leather, wool, dairy, honey, or fish).”
My own definition is slightly modified, as I am ‘not’ a strict vegetarian. I do not wish to be an extreme, all-or-nothing vegan, and the reason for this is that there are too many instances of misunderstanding where vegans (or anyone trying to change their lifestyle) get off track. But let’s start with the basics.
You are eating non-vegan, according to basic animal product consumption, but it’s still easy to be vegan and maintain an enjoyable and nutritious meal plan.
Of course it is important to avoid any animal-based food that you can, but for the sake of full disclosure, I’ve included meat in this definition because I personally feel it is always wise to be informed about the food you eat.
So what does this mean for someone who wishes to be vegan but doesn’t want to cut out cheese and ice cream? Here are my tips for how to be vegan but still enjoy a meal plan that allows for satisfying and delicious meals
